What's A Girl Gotta Do To Get "Sharecropped"?

Wow! I'm seriously behind on garden blog reading. Who knew there was a war brewing???

I won't post any links to any blogs where this has been discussed or the link to the evil do-ers' blog out of respect for my fellow garden bloggers who don't wish to give them any more free press but please allow me a few sentences on the topic from my perspective.

Does anybody have a violin? If so, please play something very sad for the readers for the next couple of paragraphs.

Why am I not good enough for the sharecroppers????? I mean I don't want my content stolen either and I can assure you that if I found out I was a victim of this I'd be ranting right along with you. But, I'm not. And that sorta makes me feel left out.

I know I shouldn't covet my neighbors garden blog, but I'm only human! The moment I read about all this content stealing I went right over to the evil-doers blog and did a search for my own. NOTHIN! Here's my stream of thoughts....

"THOSE BASTARDS BETTER NOT HAVE REBLOGGED ME!!!" *on my way to the site"
"WHAT??? I'M NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO BE STOLEN?????" *not finding anything*

In closing I'd like to say that gardening and garden blogging can be an emotional roller coaster. I need therapy.

  1. You made us laugh so hard over here! I share your totally twisted sentiment in a way....but let's be thankful we're unscathed. That was kind of a bummer for a few days...

  2. Gina,
try looking through the one I blogged about - bet you're in there! (I still don't see the whole point of that site!)

  3. You're cracking me up, Gina - and I for one think your blog is great. I don't know how it worked, but the targeted blogs seemed to have been on blogspot for awhile [some for 2 or more years] and all had full feeds.

BTW, I used a friend's recipe for Red Velvet cake when we lived in Illinois. My daughter and I craved it when we saw Steel Magnolias. But when I came to TX in '99, I was stunned to see Red Velvet cake MIX and matching canned icing at the local grocery stores. That took all the romance out of it for me.

  4. I tried to look mine up after reading your post, but you have to be a member and I don't really want to do that. Would be nice to know. I'm right there with you, don't really want them to steal from my blog, but it might be kinda a complement if they do. LOL

  5. Hi, sharecropper's daughter here with the lowdown. I was over at Stuart's Blotanical site and you are in the top 100 favorites. And you've only begun. Keep on ticklin' the funnybones honey chil' .

BTW, you may take comfort in knowing that my blog hasn't been sharecropped either . It's only the bigwigs, darlin ', like Annie get your Gun and Good Neighbor Carol that get copied. Maybe someday we'll be as good as them ?!

  6. Geez, Gina, your chances of getting sharecropped are getting better - I just visited Blotanical and you're now no. 54 most "favourited " blogs.

  8. Gina,
so sorry! I forgot I turned my profile off because I can't figure out how to make it stop putting the extended part of the profile info on the front page. Should be ok now though.
    :)

  9. Gina, Gina, Gina.

I hate to break it to you but I bet you've been sharecropped too. As a matter of fact I KNOW you've been sharecropped because I was doing a search on lasagna gardening and look what came up.

Maybe we should start a blog roll where you can only join if you can provide proof of being sharecropped. :0)

If anyone reading this thinks this isn't happening to you take your most recent entries or your most popular entries and do a search for the titles.

  10. Gina,

I just want to give you a heads up and let you know that you'll be included in the next post I do about garden blog drama. It probably won't create the same drama as getting sharecropped but at least you can say "Hey, Me too!" ;0)

    so stay tuned.

Btw I forgot to mention that your chances of getting sharecropped are improved by the tags, labels you use on your blogs. Most of the time it is automatic and the "reader" just scans the net for popular tags and pulls up and reposts the blog entries.

  11. tina - I HAD NO IDEA THAT WAS YOUR BLOG! it's the one I affectionately call the "hobbit blog". for some reason the combination of all those "h" words make me think of hobbits. i know, i'm strange.

MBT - i looked at that link and that is kinda creepy. I don't know if I feel better, or worse now.

  12. Gina: I'm always last picked for things also! Let's start a club! LOL

  13. Gina... Welcome to the "sharecropped club". Now you WILL need therapy. I'm currently hunting down the authors of a newly found site that is stealing from me and Annie in Austin, big time.

Oh, and I was at the Pacer-Bulls game last night. I have 15 reasons to be happy about the outcome! Do you know why??

  14. ok it is up and most people missed it but when you type in your blogspot domain. switch it to (yourblogname)blogpsot.com and see if the same website has targeted you.

It seems like they're doing it to everyone.

  15. LOL! I know what you mean! I was sharecropped by the latest one, but before that I didn't know whether to be bummed or relieved that nobody liked my content well enough to steal it.

(And I think of Tina's blog as the Hobbit Blog, too. I love that--it always makes me happy.)

  16. layanne - I'm nominating your as the president of our new club! What should we call ourselves?

    carol, 117-102 = 15 reasons. ;)

BSG - i was so tickled to see that I'm not the only one who thinks "hobbit blog"

  17. OMG! I'm a hobbit!? Who knew? Honestly, I kind of like it. Think I can get some of Tolkien's royalties? As long as I make someone smile, I'm happy!
    lol, that is too funny.
