  1. Me too Me too! I ate it right off the plant in the steaming heat. It was warm from the sun and absolutely the most delicious thing I ever ate in my life! :D

  2. Yay! I'm still waiting on mine -- hoping I can keep at least a few from the birds and squirrels this year!

    Definitely something worth celebrating :-)

  3. Xan and Colleen - I guess you can't tell from the picture but something took a big bite out of this one before I could pick it. I hope whoever it was enjoyed it. Bastard squirrels!

  4. Oh, crud. You're right, I didn't even see that -- I just saw a ripe, perfect strawberry and got all excited for you.

Stupid fricking squirrels. A PR person sent me a bunch of squirrel repellents to try out because I complain about them so much. I'll let you know how it goes.

  7. Strawberries are grown all around my house. but i don't have much luck trying to grow them myself. Probably becasue I'm not willing to use poison in my garden the way the commercial growers do...The shots we sometimes hear are probably picking of any pests who survive the toxins.

  9. I've been having squirrel/mice/slug problems lately, so I'm trying to trick them by covering the ripening berries with plastic easter eggs!

  10. Box turtles eat strawberries, they love them, also robins. Not usually squirrels but they are visible so often get the blame!
